Must-win game in tough t20 group
Kent Spitfires know only a win tonight against rivals the Sussex Sharks will be good enough as they look to get their Friends Life t20 campaign back on track.
Two back-to-back defeats have dented Kent’s hopes of securing one of the top two places in the group - and Sussex, as leaders, will be no pushovers in tonight’s floodlight clash at Hove’s Probiz County Ground.
Kent currently sit fourth after a good start were followed by home defeats to Hampshire and Middlesex. With four games left to play they will need to target maximum points to be in with a chance of reaching the quarter-final stage.
Kent batsman Sam Northeast told the club’s website: “All the guys are looking forward to it. There is always a good atmosphere under the lights. We have enjoyed some good practice sessions, over the last couple of days, and it’s a crucial game for us. They are not an easy side to play against, because they have good quality, but we still believe we can get something from it.”
Rob Key will be back from injury to boost the side.
