Headlining the Friday night is Peter Gabriel, Bob Dylan stars on Saturday and Suede bring the event to an end on Sunday.

#2 Top Festival

The opening weekend of the Deal Festival is a feast for all the senses and not to be missed.

The town’s Astor Theatre will be transformed into a bohemian dream world with music, magic, dance, poetry and feasting for 10 days.

The opening weekend includes entertainment from Dizzy O’Dare, The Galloping Cuckoos Street Theatre, opera star Darren Abrahams and Kent County Youth Orchestra.

As part of its annual open-air garden-theatre tour, Chapterhouse Theatre Company is bringing Jane Austen’s Emma to the stage.

Known for its Kent tours, Chapterhouse brings a tale of matchmaking, marriage and merriment.

Grounds open for picnics at 5.30pm – please bring your own rugs or low-backed seating. Adults £13.50, children £8.

#4 Top Day Out

The Kent and East Sussex Railway will remember the First World War with a living history spectacular.

See how troops were massed in the South-East before being sent by train to fight in the first few days of the Battle of the Somme. Featuring military and civilian actors and authentic equipment at the station including a General Service Wagon, Lewis Machine Gun Cart and Period Photography Booth.

Get down to Brands Hatch to watch some of the best vehicles of yesteryear recreate the great motor racing battles of the past.

HSCC Superprix features Formula 2 cars while also on show is the Touring Car Championship contenders of Jaguars, Cortinas and mini Coopers. Around 350 cars have entered the show.
